Guarding the Gaps

The prophet Ezekiel lived in a desperate time, a time when "Even (the) common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice."

It wasn't your typical case of the underprivileged being abused by the rich and powerful (the "1%", if you listen to the Occupy Movement). It was guys like us, the average man or woman on the street who had no time to help those who really needed it.

Last weekend, I traveled to Alberta to present Mercy Tech's vision for fighting poverty. We do it by changing lives one skill at a time, in Jesus' name.

In 5 meetings over 3 days, I met many wonderful, caring people, and together we challenged each other to "dig ditches of faith" (See II Kings 3) in order to see how God will fill them with the waters of His blessing.

God loves the poor and needy, and He's looking for action on their behalf. "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none."
That was then. But praise be to God, today people are ready to stand in the gap, ready to make a difference in this broken world.
There are many excellent ways to help the poor and needy, and Mercy Tech Mission is just one of them. But maybe it’s the one for you.

The goal of Mercy Tech Mission is:
“To fight poverty world-wide by providing needy communities with technical support, skilled labour, and on-site training to enhance the spiritual and physical quality of life.”

The next trip is rapidly approaching.
